Weekend Backpacks currently partners with over 50 Community Schools. We understand the role of the Community School Coordinator (CSC) and work closely with this individual to ensure our programming is successful and impactful for each school.
Once a school is added to our programming, the CSC and the Principal complete a form and sign a letter of agreement. Then each week during the school year, we deliver an agreed amount of bags (see “What’s in the Bag” to learn more) to each school either on Thursday or Friday morning so the students have access to nutritious food over the weekend.
Volunteers pack these bags and deliver the bags to the majority of the schools. We coordinate the number of bags, delivery instructions and time of delivery mainly through email and text.
